The commercial ground rules, kept short enough to actually read before you sign anything.
Quotes and scope
Every project starts with a written proposal: what is included, what it costs and roughly when it will be done. Work outside that scope is quoted separately before it starts, never added silently to an invoice.
Payment
Payment is split across the project. A deposit books the time in the calendar; the remainder is due at agreed points, with the final amount due at launch. Invoices are payable within 14 days.
Ownership
On final payment, the site, its code and its content are yours. Domain and hosting accounts are registered in your name wherever possible, so you are never locked in.
Revisions
Each proposal states how many rounds of feedback are included — usually two per stage. Further rounds are billed by the hour at a rate stated in the proposal.
Your responsibilities
You provide content, access and feedback within the agreed timeline, and confirm that anything you supply — text, images, logos — is yours to use.
Pausing and cancelling
If a project goes quiet, I hold your slot for a month, then reschedule it. If you cancel, the deposit and any completed stages are non-refundable; nothing further is charged.
Care plans
Care plans are monthly and cancellable with a month's notice. Unused change allowances do not roll over. Cancelling a plan never affects your ownership of the site.
Liability
I take care with the work, but I cannot guarantee search rankings, revenue or uninterrupted uptime of third-party services. Liability is limited to the fees paid for the work in question.
